Meeting January 23, 2012

It is Sewing for Charity night: We will be making pillowcases

Please bring coordinating fabrics for a pillowcase.
3/4 yd main fabric, 1/3 yd cuff, 1/8 yd accent piece
If at all possible, have fabric pre cut. You also can bring fabric for more than one pillowcase if desired. Instructions will be available that evening.

Starting at 5:00 p.m. It is potluck (bring a dish to share)
Paper products & drink will be furnished by the committee

We are asking you to wear a name tag. If you already have one great. If not make one and wear it. The committee feels this will help us all to get to know each other better.

Hopefully this message will give you plenty of time to prepare.

There are two groups - one is local quilt shops with websites.  If you know of a quilt shop within about an hour's drive, let us know so that we can add their website to the list.'

Correction to Teddy Bear Block Pattern

Brown Teddy Bear Embroidery instruction error.

It states in the instructions to "use a backstitch". It should read "use a stem stitch".

If you have already completed a block in backstitch, that is fine.

Just use the stem stitch on future blocks.

February 2011 Meeting

February Quilt Guild Meeting

Monday, February 28, 2011 at 7:00.
Speaker will be Jo Richey on "Barn Quilts of Iowa".

Fat Quarter for February :  Flannel's.

A special thank you to all the members who came early in the evening and participated in the January charity quilt making. Also if you took a quilt home to complete or work on, and have it finished. Please bring it to the February meeting.

An earlier email asked for 2 1/2 inch pieces of fabric to be brought to the February meeting. That means 2 1/2 inch strips of fabric NOT 2 1/2 inch squares of fabric.

We can package these pieces into kits for the garage sale in the summer.

January 24, 2011

Starting time 4:00 pm at the Methodist Church

Regular meeting 7:00 pm

(if coming at 4:00 bring extra money for pizza)

Sewing Machines: Sharon Turner, Brenda Morgan, Dorothy Ehlert, Kelly Hayes, Judy Schmitt, and Twila Wilkinson. (bring extra bobbins & needles)
Ironing Boards: Sharon Turner, Joyce Rosenberger, Judy Schmitt
Irons: Sharon Turner, Rosie Hulet, Joyce Rosenberger
Cutting Boards/rotary cutters/rulers: Sharon Turner, Dorothy Ehlert, Carol Sallenback, Twila Wilkinson, Donna Wheeler.
Pieces of fabric at least 45 inches wide: Judy Philbrook, Kelly Hayes
All are encouraged to bring at least one piece of fabric at least 45 inches wide.
Be sure to label everything you bring. Also, if you have a power strip bring it along.
Each person is asked to bring a snack to share with someone else as well as a beverage.
